BIOCAST: bio-certified epoxy resin (according to ASTM D6866-22, method B) Organic - without compromises: This two-component resin is just as easy and safe to use as all other Etter Art resin systems. It contains just as good UV protection as all other Etter Art resin systems (absorbers and HALS, Hindered Amine Light Stabilisers). And it hardens to a hard and glass-like varnish - like all our resin systems ... In addition, BIOCAST is of course perfectly self-deaerating, so that bubbles are hardly or not at all an issue. Possible applications of BIOCAST synthetic resin How do you want to use resin in your art, do you already have an idea? BIOCAST is at your side in almost every case, if you like. Resin artworks. Mixed media artworks. Pouring. Fluid painting. Coating ... Clear or coloured. Full-surface or partial. With up to 10 mm layer height in one pour. BIOCAST is a real resin accomplice for you! Possible applications of BIOCAST synthetic resin How do you want to use resin in your art, do you already have an idea? BIOCAST is at your side in almost every case, if you like. Resin artworks. Mixed media artworks. Pouring. Fluid painting. Coating ... Clear or coloured. Full-surface or partial. With up to 10 mm layer height in one pour. BIOCAST is a real resin accomplice for you! Special features of the BIOCAST resin The name says it all: BIOCAST is an epoxy resin that contains biomass. We even tell you exactly how much of it: • BIOCAST resin contains 33 % biomass. • The hardener of BIOCAST contains 8 % biomass. • In the mixture, this results in a biomass content of 23 % due to the mixing ratio. BIOCAST therefore consists of almost a quarter biomass. Quite a lot, isn't it? What we find important: The biomass comes from the paper industry, where it is a by-product of paper production and processing. It is therefore not an edible product. We would not support that. The viscosity of BIOCAST is also special. It is so high that you can work very precisely with this synthetic resin. This is great for working on picture edges, for example. You determine what the resin does - at least to a certain extent. And: with BIOCAST, you can create unique cells on the surface of your artwork. Maybe even cells like you've never seen before. A How-To Guide on BIOCAST Step 1: Mix BIOCAST by volume 1:1 or by weight 1:0.9 by placing both components in a suitable mixing cup. Step 2: Then mix the resin and hardener. As with other resin systems, stir slowly and carefully, including the base and rim of the mixing cup. This will give you your finished resin mixture after 3 to 5 minutes. Step 3: If you want to work with coloured resin, now is the right time for colourants. One or more, as appropriate for your work. Step 4: You can work with your clear or coloured mixture for 35 to 40 minutes before it becomes too thick and starts to harden. Step 5: Prepare your painting surface or object for the resin by degreasing and dusting it. You can also do this before mixing. Your painting surface or object should also be level so that the resin can spread evenly. BIOCAST is self-levelling, but you can also spread it with a spatula. Step 6: Simply remove any bubbles from the surface. To do this, swirl a hot air dryer or crème brûlée burner over the resin surface at a distance of around ten centimetres. Step 7: Then allow the resin to harden. Make sure that dust or other foreign bodies do not adhere to the surface. Step 8: Enjoy your work of art. And if necessary: clean. This is easy with a damp cloth. Organic? Of Course! With all the advantages of an excellent epoxy resin? Absolutely! And it's even certified. Take a look at the CIRAM assessment. Our information is as transparent for you as clear resin. Please be aware! Although our resins are formulated with the most modern and safest epoxy chemicals available, you should handle all epoxy resins responsibly and proactively ensure your safety: • Always wear nitrile gloves • When sanding cured resin, wear a dust mask and, even better, safety goggles • It is advisable to work in a well-ventilated area and wear a respirator mask • Avoid skin contact (if resin gets on the skin, wash with plenty of soap and water) • DO NOT eat, drink or smoke while working • If eyes are contaminated, wash with plenty of water for 15 minutes and seek medical attention immediately Adding inks/paints/mica powder/glitter to epoxy resin will alter its properties and may reduce its non-toxicity. If you use alcohol ink, DO NOT use a flame to remove bubbles as alcohol is flammable Further technical information on Eli-Chem-Resin BIOCAST can be found in our overview table. THE PRODUCT HI-BUILD That's it. HI-BUILD Resin is a high-viscosity, two-component resin that offers the benefits of 3D height. It can. HI-BUILD becomes a hard and glassy varnish when its two individual components are mixed together. It also offers the best possible protection against yellowing. This is ensured by so-called UV stabilizers: Our products contain a UV absorber and HALS (Hindered Amine Light Stabilizer) That's what it's for. HI-BUILD has a high viscosity and is a very thick resin. That is why it is perfect for blob art, dot art, geode art and the so-called doming. With HI-BUILD you can create custom effects that add three-dimensional depth to your work. Particularities. Due to its thick and sticky consistency, HI-BUILD is one of the most manageable resins on the market. No sagging, slipping or flowing, HI-BUILD stays right where you put it. It comes in a creamy color by default and can be colored with various pigments. Use a suitable resin pigment, such as Resi-TINT, Resi-TINT MAX or an equivalent of our products. Measure, mix and apply HI-BUILD 1.) Resin and hardener from HI-BUILD are mixed by volume 1:1. Place the two components in a suitable mixing cup. 2.) Stir the measured amount in the mixing cup. Use a plastic spatula for this. Stir slowly and thoroughly for 3-5 minutes; also on the bottom and edges of the mixing cup. 3.) You have previously prepared your painting surface, which means: it has been dusted off, degreased and is lying flat on your work surface. Now you can color the resin with a resin pigment of your choice and drip onto your surface using a plastic spatula. You can use this process to create three-dimensional shapes. 5.) HI-BUILD is a high-quality product that produces only small bubbles, if any. If bubbles appear, simply remove them with the heat of a Bunsen burner or a heat gun. To do this, walk about 30 cm above your surface in swinging movements. Don't get closer than 30cm to your artwork or there is a risk of ripples and pits forming in the resin finish. 6.) Protect your work from dust or other foreign objects by working in an environment that is as dust-free as possible. Cover it when it's done. 7.) The best way to clean the hardened surface is with a damp Cloth.
